Celebrating our User Conference Success

by Sam Lipscombe on February 5, 2014

Last week we held our tenth User Conference in Reading.User-conference As well as getting our community of intranet users together to network, learn and share knowledge on all things intranet, it’s also a lot of fun.

We kicked off our two day event with a really insightful presentation from our key note speaker, intranet expert Sam Marshall. Sam provided a very lively look at the digital workplace and some of the considerations when implementing one.

This was followed by presentations on a range of intranet topics, designed to educate our clients and provide ideas and inspiration for their sites.

Some of the topics we covered were:

  • Latest intranet trends
  • Typical Behaviours of intranet managers

We ran several workshops over the course of both days, which enabled our attendees to pick and choose a topic based on their area of interest or job role.

These included:

How extranets are used

  • Creating an effective intranet team
  • Engaging your users
  • Writing for the intranet
  • Application Development

At the end of day one, we all had the chance to relax and network over dinner, whilst also celebrating some of our client success stories with the SORCE Awards. This is a big part of every conference we hold and this year we handed out awards for:

Best Branding

  • Intranet Hero
  • Neatest Innovation
  • Greatest Business Impact

The feedback we’ve had so far has been incredibly positive, with our clients finding it a really valuable experience. They really appreciated the opportunity to learn from industry experts, as well as educating themselves on areas of the intranet relevant to them.

An event like this reiterates that they are not alone, that as a SORCE client they have the opportunity to see other sites and learn from what others have achieved. I’m already looking forward to our next one.

Where do you get inspiration for your intranet? We’d love to hear from you, please provide your comments below.
